Metallica and Run DMC enter the Rock Hall of Fame

The heavy metal hitters blew the roof off the Public Auditorium in Cleveland last night at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. After accepting the honor, Metallica played some of their biggest hits, including "Enter Sandman" and "Master of Puppets," in front of a crowd of more than 6,000. For the first time, tickets to the ceremony were sold to the public.
Legendary rap group Run-DMC was also inducted this year. Eminem presented the honor to Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, calling them "the baddest of the bad and the coolest of the cool." Read more...
Fast and Furious blows up box office

Fast and Furious blew away its predecessors and the box office weekend competition with an estimated $72.5 million Friday-Sunday debut.
The performance was the year's best opening by a mile. It was the car series' biggest by an even longer mile. Read more....

ER done after 15 seasons

Fifteen seasons of ER came barreling to a close tonight in an episode that really embodied what the pioneering medical melodrama was all about—blood and guts (both literal and figurative), trauma and healing, loss and lessons learned, freak injuries (geriatric penile damage), and accidents small (wedding brawl) and large (explosion with mass casualties). Guiding Light over after 72 years

After 72 years and more than 15,700 episodes on radio and evenutally TV, Guiding Light will dim to darkness on Sept. 18, 2009, CBS announced Wednesday. The soap opera, which has 69 Daytime Emmy Awards to its credit, served as early experience for many current stars today, including Hayden Panettiere, Brittany Snow, James Earl Jones, Calista Flockhart, Allison Janney, Mira Sorvino, Kevin Bacon, Peter Gallagher and Christopher Walken. Hannah Montana movie soundtrack not number 1

The Hannah Montana movie soundtrack was beaten out for chart bragging rights by the umpteenth Now! compilation. Now That's What I Call Music! 30 sold 146,000 copies to Hannah Montana: The Movie's 139,000 in a 1-2 finish, per Nielsen SoundScan stats. It appears that all the teen idols are falling from grace one by one....read more...
